Atomic clocks will not function properly if the WWVB radio signal from Fort Collins, Colorado is scrambled or blocked due to the location or positioning of the clock.

- If your clock requires batteries, make sure the batteries are new, and you have installed them correctly.
- Most atomic clocks will NOT work in underground buildings.
- The shielding provided by a metal building might prevent the clock from receiving the radio signal. For example, if you live in a mobile home or a house with steel siding.
- If you have a table or desktop atomic clock, try rotating it 90-degrees.

Here are some tips:
If you have a wall clock try mounting it on a wall perpendicular to the one it is currently on. The antennas are directional and you might be able to improve the signal strength by turning the antenna.
Place the clock along a wall or near a window that faces Fort Collins, Colorado.
Locate the clock at least 1 or 2 meters away from any computer monitors, which can cause interference (some monitors have a scan frequency at or near the WWVB carrier frequency of 60 kHz).
To determine if your room or building is causing interference to the radio signal, take your clock outside at night (this is when the signal is the strongest). Power down your clock, do this by removing the batteries or unplugging the clock. Then power-up your clock by inserting the batteries or plugging it in to a power source. This will force the atomic clock to look for the WWVB signal.
